"A principios del año pasado, Polaroid Corporation dejaba de producir su película constituida en ícono y mito de una era. "9 de octubre", es la fecha que se verá impresa como "Expiration Date" final de la última partida de películas fabricadas por la marca símbolo de las instantáneas. La exhibición de Galería Atlas - Londres- reúne una vasta colección de imágenes Polaroid de fotógrafos y artistas que han colaborado con la empresa como parte de sus programas de investigación y desarrollo como también las de aquellos que deben su reconocimiento y fama a la calidad de sus Polaroids tradicionales e intervenidos. La muestra, de este modo, traza un recorrido histórico, que por medio de imágenes, une linealmente los inicios del medio con lo producido hasta el presente. La fecha de apertura de la muestra este "9 de octubre", coincidente con la fecha final de expiración de la última partida de películas bajo propiedad de Polaroid Corporation, constituye un símbolo y un merecido homenaje a una película única representados en toda la obra que nos deja".

POLAROID

Early last year, the Polaroid Corporation ceased producing its iconic film. The 9th October 2009 will see the final "Use by" or Expiration date of the last batch of Polaroid film manufactured. The exhibition at Atlas will feature a wide selection of Polaroid prints by photographers who have either worked directly with the Polaroid Corporation as part of their research program or who have become famous for the quality of their Polaroid prints either alongside or independent from their traditional camera-based work. It will thus trace the development and use of this unique medium up to the present day. The opening reception will coincide with Polaroid film's final date of expiration.
