TENGO UN AMIGO QUE DICE

"Tengo un amigo que dice" es el titulo de una serie de entradas que iremos publicando...
¿ De que se trata ?
pues se trata de los mensajes que me envia un colaborador que no quiere salir del anonimato, vamos ... que no es mi alter ego ni nada parecido, simplemente es alguien del mundillo de la fotografía, que tiene grandes opiniones pero pocos de pelos en la lengua.
Veremos a ver que nos comenta este individuo misterioso


Aqui os relato lo primero que me ha ido comentando... (ya luego iré poniendo sus textos sin editar)


Tengo un amigo que dice que ansell adams es un bandarra que no salía del cuarto oscuro, que helmut newton era un salido, que robert capa un suicida, que chase jarvis seguro que tiene un focus tuneao, que joe mcnally no puede ser tan buena persona, que tommy oshima es un superordenador japonés, que ken rockwell es un gilipollas que tiene razón, que Scott Kelby debería dejar de andar y dedicarse a la fotografía, que mauro fuentes es un pijo recalcitrante, que david hobby controla hasta la puerta del garaje con unos pocket wizard (se rumoréa que hasta los usa con su mujer en la intimidad del dormitorio pero todavía no ha trascendido para qué...........ni porqué, y lo mas importante, cómo david? el pueblo tiene derecho a saber!), que el digital ha sido mejor que el analógico desde que existía solo como concepto, que las lomo son para mariquitas, que las polaroid son juguetes para gente con ADD y que mañana habrá una cámara mejor que la que tienes, pero no hace falta que te la compres...

My friend usually tells me that ansel adams is a shut-in that couldn´t leave the darkroom, that helmutt newton was horny as hell, that robert capa was just suicidal, that chase jarvis surely has a pimped out ford focus, that there´s no way joe mcnally is such a good guy, that tommy oshima is the last japanese supercomputer, that ken rockwell is a sucker that´s right, that scott kelby should stop walking and take some pictures, that mauro fuentes is as posh as it gets, that david hobby even has pocket wizards for the garage doors (ther rumor has it that he uses them with the misses in the privacy of their bedroom but there´s no word yet on to what he uses them for...........nor how, david, the people has the right to know!), that digital has been a lot better than film since it was only a concept, that lomography is for damaged people, that polaroids are toys for limited people with ADD and that there will be a better camera tomorrow than the one you have right now, but you don´t have to buy it.......really, you don´t.....

Dice que si seguimos el principio de reducir un problema complejo en partes mas sencillas, si reducimos la fotografía a sus elementos mas básicos, nos quedan solo dos, la luz y un soporte que la captura. Todo lo demás, lo que rodea a esos dos elementos, los cristales del objetivo, el obturador, filtros de densidad neutras y demás vainas, son solo obstaculos entre la luz en su forma completa y el soporte que la captura. Esos obstaculos, deforman, desvían, obstaculizan el trayecto que la luz se empeña en seguir, no solo eso, el mismo impacto de la luz contra el dispositivo capturador acaba por esculpir la forma en que se transmite la información.

He says that if you follow the principle of reducing a complex problem to smaller simpler parts, if you break down photography to the basic elements, you get only two, light and a device to capture it. Everything else surrounding those two elements, is just for show or in the way of the light. Those things (the lens, the shutter, the iris, neutral density filters and sh*t like that) bend and deform the path that the light is so stubbornly trying to follow, not only that, the very impact of the light with the capturing device determines the way the information is transmitted.

Ademas dice que una vez que hemos capturado la luz, todavía estamos lejos de poder mostrar un resultado, dependiendo del soporte al que vaya destinada esa fotografía, seguiremos una serie de procesos que si bien no deforman, ni desvían, ni obstaculizan el trayecto de la luz... si que modulan, limitan, amplían, armonizan, colorizan y contrastan la apariencia de la luz capturada. Una vez completados esos procesos y la fotografía está en su soporte definitivo, solo entonces, podremos analizar qué características de los elementos que se interponen en el camino de la luz generan qué resultado.
Me dijo que las cuestiones sobre la luz vendrán después, que de momento vamos a hablar de cámaras y nos lo quitamos de enmedio. Que sí, que semos unos frikis a los que nos gustan los aparatos, que mataríamos por tener la hasselblad que fue a la luna, que nunca se tienen demasiados objetivos, que es fundamental leer en dpreview el último rumor sobre el nuevo objetivo que nunca nos compraremos (porque encima es de una marca distinta de la que utilizamos), pero amigos, hay que reconocerlo, ésa es la parte facil... la cámara.
Saber usar una cámara y decidir cual queremos y para que, es facil.

He also says that once we have captured the light, we are still a long way away from being able to show some kind of result, depending on the media that the photo will be displayed, we follow some procedures that don´t deform or bend the light but modulate, enhance, diminish, armonize, colorize and contrast the appearance of it. Once we are through with this processes and the photo is in it´s intended format, only then, we will be able to indentify which characteristics from the elements that get in the way of the light generates certain results.
He also told me that stuff about light will come later, that we are going to talk fisrt about gear to take it out of the way. Yeah, we are freaks, we are geargheads, we would kill for the hassy that went to the moon, that there´s no such thing as one lens too many, that is crucial that we read about the last rumor about some lens that we will never buy (because it´s not even for your camera), but buddy, face it, that´s the easy part....the camera. Knowing how a camera is use and decide which one we haver and for what, its easy.

Otra cosa que siempre me dice es que una de las mejores herramientas que puedes usar para ser mejor fotógrafo es desarrollar la capacidad de realizar ingeniería inversa en cualquier fotografía.
Esta capacidad se puede y se debe desarrollar, pero solo será util si el planteamiento es el correcto, para ello hay que librarse del miedo.
Pero eso dice que me lo cuenta otro día, que si no nos liamos.Empezó diciendo que, por primera vez en la historia, se da una situación inaudita que desde luego no se producía hace 15 años, "es imposible comprar una cámara mala". Dice que ya me lo contará...

No se que os parecen los comentarios de éste amigo, pero lo que queda claro, es que es gracioso, habla sin tapujos, tiene conocimientos y es lo que necesitaba este blog, asique yo me quedo con él y voy a insistirle que envie material periódicamente, al menos para echarnos unas risas, mientras aprendemos otro poco...
